Poker equity calculator

Up to 9 hands, any board, any dead cards. The engine deals every possible run-out and scores every hand on each one, so the win, split and equity figures are counts, not simulations: the same to the last digit for anyone who opens the link.

Nothing computed yet. The engine runs in your browser once the page has loaded.

// what is computed, and what is assumed
  • Computed: every possible run-out, dealt from the cards nobody holds, and every hand scored on each by the same engine that runs the trainer. Splits are shared equally among the hands in them. No sampling, so no error bars.
  • Assumed: everyone sees the showdown. Equity is each hand's share of the pot if nobody folds and no more money goes in. That is exact when everyone is all-in; with chips behind it is a starting point, not a verdict, because folds, bets and implied odds are not in it.
  • Specific hands only. Multi-way equity against ranges multiplies the work by the number of combos per player, so it is not here. For one hand against a range, with the bet priced in big blinds, use the spot check.
  • Input: cards as rank then suit, spaces optional: Ah Kd, Tc 9c, or AhKd. Dead cards are any cards you know are gone, such as a folded hand.

Worked examples

12 multi-way spots, each with its own page: the full card-by-card table, what every hand wins with, and the counts behind each percentage.

Multi-way equity is not heads-up equity, added up

AA against KK heads-up is 81.9% for the aces, averaged over every suit combination. Put a third pair in and the aces in this AA vs KK vs QQ deal own 66.9%; with jacks as well, 54.6%. Every extra hand is another way to lose, and none of those losses shows up in any heads-up number. That is why multi-way spots have to be dealt out together rather than estimated pair by pair, and why this calculator does not take shortcuts: in the six-way example the aces are down to 41.7%.

What equity is, and what it is not

Equity is your share of the pot if the hand were run out with no more betting: every board you win counts in full, every split counts as your fraction of it. It is the right number when everyone is all-in. With chips behind, it is where the analysis starts, not where it ends: what a call is worth also depends on the price, which the spot check works out in big blinds, and on what happens on later streets, which no showdown calculator can see.

Why the numbers are exact

Preflop with two hands there are 1,712,304 possible boards; with more hands there are fewer, because more cards are out of the deck. That is small enough to deal every one of them in the browser in well under a second, with the same Rust engine that grades the trainer. So instead of sampling a few hundred thousand boards and quoting an error bar, the calculator enumerates them all, and the working above shows the count. The preflop matchups were computed the same way: enter any suit pattern from one of those pages here and the win, split and loss counts agree to the board.

A calculator answers the spot in front of you. The drill trains the instinct for the next one: call/fold decisions and equity reads, graded in big blinds against stated ranges.
